John 3:1-21
Nicodemus was a Pharisee, someone known for keeping the Jewish Law to the letter. Though Pharisees followed God outwardly, they tended to miss the heart behind His instructions. Jesus even called them “whitewashed tombs” (Matthew 23:27). In John 3, Jesus explains to Nicodemus that God isn’t concerned with appearances—He looks for what’s inside. He looks for faith in His Son.

Examine your heart. Do you ever feel like you’re trying to earn your standing with God? Consider what Jesus says He can do: bring light, make us clean, and give us new life. All He asks of us is to turn to Him.
